In May 2024, I published the article “Moving Back to Move Forward” for Fresno-based literary journal The Normal School. I wrote about moving to South Korea for nearly five years after my gut had told me for years that something sinister had happened there that wasn’t being spoken about.
I wrote this over seven years during which time I read many Korean history books and papers, exchanged many emails and conversations, and returned to Korea twice to do more research.
